When I have a concrete idea, I can draw it with one line.

When my idea is not concrete, I draw a lot of lines.

Then I start accentuating some parts of this linear wilderness by stripping it of the superfluous elements to let the idea become clearer and clearer.

The more we simplify the lines of a town, the easier we find the formula defining the character of the given town.
